Village Academy High School

Where I've Been

I was born in the Philippines and spent most of my life searching for a wife. Prior to teaching I worked at NBC Studios, 102.7 KIIS-FM, Chiat Day Advertising, and various sundry office jobs. At one point I even owned a Mrs. Fields Cookies! I think the most interesting thing in my life right now has to be the fact that I own a Krispy Kreme Doughnut shop! Hooray! I believe in the young minds of today. Nothing beats teaching, except the pay!

My Life as an Educator

I am an energetic teacher whose sole purpose is to create a classroom filled with learning methodologies that captivate and sustain student interests as well as catapult student learning in which they achieve their highest possible potential. I have been teaching for the past seven years and currently I am assigned to teach technology courses at The Village. Once I did a lesson on proper grammar structure where students cooked cheeseburgers to each other to represent the various stages in designing a sentence.

When I'm Not Working...

I spend most of my time working. It's not unusual to find me in my classroom 10 or more hours a day! But when I do have free time, I enjoy the perils of working with youth at my church, washing my hands, taking a shower, and brandishing my expensive Nissan Sentra. If I’m not teaching summer school, I spend most of my summers traveling around the country visiting the nooks and crannies of the world. I don’t own a TV so I don’t have a favorite television show, but the likes of ER, the Food Network, and the Amazing Race have made me enjoy the luxuries of TV a little bit more. I read mostly the classics since I can’t seem to get enough of it in the classroom, either that or I’m just trying to get that ever-persistent edge over my students, which is almost impossible! Those nasty devils!

My family is by far the most important thing to me in my life. I am the oldest of two other siblings, who are my twin sisters. Professional organizations include the Society of Brainy Teachers, Wild Wild Teachers Associations, and the local PTA. But despite my eclectic roles after school, I still most enjoy spending time in the classroom concocting ways to torture my students. Hooray for students!
